Natural Kids with Acupuncture &
Chinese Herbs
Chinese medicine is a safe, drug-free, and highly
effective support for your childs health. Used on its own, or as a
valuable complement to existing paediatric care, it is a gentle and
curative approach to resolving many common childhood ailments.
Chinese medicine:
Addressing health imbalances at a young age nurtures your
child's wellbeing and prevents additional health problems occurring in
adulthood. Many childhood conditions that are resistant to conventional
medicine respond very well to Chinese medicine treatment.
Does It Hurt?
Chinese medicine for children
is a specialised discipline which uses small and gentle interventions to
rebalance your childs health.
Paediatric acupuncture
is very different from adult treatments:
- Fewer points are chosen per treatment
- Special super-fine needles are used
- Insertion is shallow
- They are only left in from a few seconds to a few
minutes.
Understandably, the
idea of giving a child needles can be confronting, often more so for the
parent than the child. Any worry is quickly relieved when your child is
proudly beaming away showing off his or her first needle.
Paediatric needle
insertion is quick and painless, and children
often describe the sensation as a 'little mosquito bite' or a 'tickle'.
What If My Child
Won't Have Needles?
Aja is also trained in needle-free techniques,
and often uses both needles and acupressure in a treatment. If your
child is too scared of needles Aja will not use them, but many are very
brave and happy to give it a go. In addition to this she may use moxa,
therapeutic massage, Chinese herbs, and simple modifications to your
childs diet or lifestyle.
Aja takes special care to make sure both you and your
child feel safe and comfortable during each treatment. Building
trust is especially important with children, and Aja cultivates this by
involving your child in the treatment, treating them with respect, and
never doing anything they don't want. They are also welcome to have
their treatment where they feel most safe, which is often in your lap!
What Age Can
Treatment Start?
Chinese medicine is effective for infants and children
of all ages. Treatment is very quick, so you don't have to worry about
your baby or child wriggling too much. Usually the younger the child,
the smaller the intervention.
Are Chinese Herbs
Safe For Children?
Aja uses stringently tested Chinese herbs of the
highest quality, and the dosages are adjusted for babies and children.
The herbs are very safe and children respond remarkably well to them.
Aja uses special paediatric brands that are either pre-sweetened with
stevia, or can be taken with fruit juice.
How Many Visits?
A childs energy is quick to change, this is evident every day in their moods and interests, but also in their health. They are prone to getting sick very rapidly, but they respond to treatment and recover just as fast. A short course of treatments is usually all it takes.
It is both astonishing and wonderful to see how well children respond to Chinese medicine, and current research is now validating just how effective acupuncture really is for modern kids. It is a simple, drug-free approach to supporting your child, keeping them happy and healthy throughout their early years.
